“Beyond this place of wrath and tears looms but the horrors of the shade, and yet the menace of the years finds and shall find me unafraid. It matters not how strait the gate or how charged with punishment the scroll; I am the master of my fate, I am the captain of my soul.” - William Ernest Henley

Strength and Conditioning
I joined the health and fitness community through my love for soccer. I’ve been playing since I was four years old and as I grew, my love for the game and everything related to it did as well. In high school I broke my right ankle and consequently couldn’t play. This was the first thing that made me realize I wanted to pursue the health and fitness industry. Being injured and having to go through recovery to come back to soccer made me realize that helping people recover from, prevent, or even simply learn about their injuries was extremely intriguing. The first step to that is learning about the body and how all aspects work in conjunction with one another, specifically in the realm of sport and exercise.
Sport and exercise are excellent ways to stay physically healthy, but they are also so much more than that. Before I came to college, virtually all of my close friends came from soccer teams. Playing soccer or getting in a workout was always my go-to method for improving my mood, as well. I now know that I wasn’t alone in this and that exercise in general is extremely beneficial in improving one’s mental state and to building a sense of community. You can come to the gym, see people you get along with, have a couple laughs in between sets, and get a great workout in. That’s the perfect scenario, and it’s what I personally and we at P4L strive for.
