My Philosophy

I was extremely energetic as a young child, and because of this, my parents thought sports would be a great outlet for me. In addition, it was a great way for my family to connect with other families since we had recently moved to the United States from Iran.   At the age of 5 they signed me up for T-ball, soccer, and basketball.  Although I was young, I knew I found my passion in sports and more importantly, had a love for team work. My enthusiasm for recreation and play didn't stop there- I got involved in track, wrestling, baseball, and football.  In college, it was only fitting for me to major in Kinesiology so that I could continue to transfer my passion to others. During college and a few years after, I still couldn't let go of my love for sports and participated competitively in several- mainly football and boxing. Today, my devotion for sports lives on through playing recreationally and coaching clients and athletes who have goals to improve their athleticism.

After college, I was eager to move from Seattle to San Francisco to begin my career as a Certified Personal Trainer and Strength and Conditioning Specialist. I found that the industry had not regulated qualifications and its values were not aligned with mine. Sales were celebrated over service and knowledge, and I wasn't being true to myself. I was interested in cultivating my craft and building lasting relationships with clients. After being immersed in the corporate box gym mentality for a few years, I decided enough was enough.  I followed my own path and began to create Perform For Life with my wife, Justine Sharifi. I believe that the fitness industry has a responsibility for trainers and coaches to have proper credentials and continue their education regularly. Today, my dream is for Perform for Life to be at the forefront of the industry by fostering opportunities for trainers to build their professional careers. Through my leadership my goal is to mentor a new generation of trainers and coaches who will bring outstanding professionalism to the industry.
