"Far better is it to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure... than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much, because they live in a gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat." - Theodore Roosevelt

My Story

I realized at a young age that the more I moved, the better my mood was. I was very active growing up and spent my time skateboarding and playing sports. I was always the shortest kid in the class and as a result, I struggled to keep up with my peers in competitive sports. I realized that the harder I worked the better I did, not only in sports, but in life. In this way, sports and exercise taught me how to excel in life and gave me the confidence to work toward my dreams.

As I grew older, I began to realize the importance exercise for mental and physical health. I decided I wanted to study exercise physiology so that I could learn the most effective ways to increase health and fitness for individuals. I got my bachelors degree in Kinesiology at Humboldt State University, where I truly discovered my passion for exercise physiology. I eventually decided to get my Masters in Kinesiology where I wrote a thesis relating to anaerobic capacity and the factors affecting anaerobic capacity performance. I learned a lot about the physiological factors underlying exercise performance and how to increase them. My goal is to impart my passion and knowledge to my clients so that they can accomplish their health and fitness goals.

My Philosophy

To me, exercise is a medicine and should be prescribed to prevent injury and disease. I believe that it is my job to implement effective programming and quantify the associated health benefits so that my clients can live longer and happier lives. To do this, I believe that it is important to have deep knowledge of exercise physiology and the applicable research so that the best possible performance based exercise program can be provided. I also believe in implementing proper motivational techniques to ensure adherence to an exercise program.
